Summer Fun

  • Hiking – check out the Ann & Mike Poe book as well as the 14ers Skiers Guide.
  • Mountain biking – loads of info at the Crested Butte Mountain Biking Association site
  • Bike terrain park just past the Community School
  • Stand up Paddleboarding on the Slate, Lake Irwin, Long Lake or Lost Lake – we rent from Wheelies and Waves up on Elk.
  • Rent 4WD vehicles up at Taylor Reservoir
  • Rainbow Park has a soccer field & a beautiful playground
  • Town also has a disc golf course, a sand volleyball court, horseshoe pits, basketball courts at the Community school & tennis courts
  • Whitewater rafting on the Taylor River
  • The resort usually has daycamps for kids
  • Art classes
  • Fishing 
  • Free music at Town Park on Monday nights and at CBMR on Wednesday nights
  • The Rocky Mountain Biological Lab is a gem – the kids can learn at the camps, or you can attend their Tuesday Talks on various topics.  
  • Massage/facials

Winter Fun

  • Ski at Crested Butte Mountain Resort
  • Walk – the recreation path (at the end of our street) and Lower Loop/Peanut Lake Road are both open to walkers in the winter.
  • Town sled hill (next to Nordic Center or a few blocks away in Aperture)
  • Skating rink
  • Snowshoeing
  • Nordic skiing
  • Snowmobiling
  • Dog sledding
  • Art classes
  • Fat tire biking (trail info from the Nordic Center or CBMBA, bikes can be rented at Big Al’s or the Alpineer)
  • Massage/facials
